About Meiji Jingu
Meiji Jingu is the religious site north of Shibuya Station, not a park with a torii. About 100,000 donated trees make the forest. Walk 10 minutes from any gate to the honden. Two bows, two claps, one bow. October closes 16:40, November 16:10, December 16:00. Do not put this last on a winter afternoon. Goshuin is issued at Nagadono from 09:00 until close. The inner garden (Kiyomasa’s well, iris) is a separate ¥500. The museum is extra. Hatsumode on 1–3 January is the busiest in the country. Ordinary weekends are still locals walking the sand path. No running, no picnics in the woods. Eat at Forest Terrace after you leave.
